Giuseppe Strina holds the Chair of Service Development in SMEs and Crafts at the University of Siegen, Germany. His research interests are mainly in the areas of identification and development of service-orientated, digital business models as well as in concepts for a consistent service system engineering, both preferred in SMEs and Crafts. He is also interested in the development of concepts, methods and enrichment of current instruments for capturing usefulness and productivity of services as complete communication of values (internal and external). His research is driven by the "research-by-design"-approach, based on a solid theoretical foundation.
Giuseppe Strina studied first electrical engineering and then political science and philosophy at RWTH Aachen University. He made his PhD on the application of principles of self-similarity and autopoiesis for the management of SMEs and at the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. He has been working for more than eight years as managing director of a private institute, subsidiary company of a Europe-wide consulting company and focused on SME related research and consultancy topics. He completed his habilitation in addition to his professional career also at the faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the RWTH Aachen and received the "venia legendi" on "Entrepreneurial Cybernetics".
In 2005, he founded his own engineering and consulting office "4E Consult" and since then has worked as a SENIOR consultant in strategy and organizational development, change management and service development, with a focus on technology-related companies and research institutions. He has been a visiting lecturer at several universities and colleges, for example at RWTH Aachen, at University of St. Gallen, at FOM - University of Applied Sciences for Organization and Management and at UTB Pristina (Kosovo). Since winter semester 2014/15, he teaches and researches at University of Siegen.
